Renewable Resources Pioneering Projects

Synergy helped an entity in the USA to analyse the financial feasibility of setting up on-site generation facility for its hospitals. The on-site plants would substitute the power being bought from the grid and in some cases would even export power back to the grid. This engagement involved the analysis of over 40 individual plants spread across the country.
The unique aspect of this engagement was the variety of fuels used to drive the plants with options ranging from renewable sources like CSP (concentrated solar power), geothermal, wind, PV (photovoltaic) to conventional sources like gas, solid fuel (wood chips). This variety coupled with the different set of regulations and incentives for each such fuel type provided its own set of challenges.

Synergy's task was to conduct a detailed financial study of each of the above options, create a financial projection for the proposed plant and compare this with the existing arrangements. The benefits or lack of it were highlighted in a financial feasibility report which was issued for each of these sites.
